Mode of Action

Research has shown that available intra-oral fluoride at the tooth surface, into plaque and on oral mucosa optimizes the efficacy of fluoride.1,2 This helps prevent demineralization and makes fluoride available for remineralization together with calcium and phosphate ions.4,5,6 When used, ACT® Total Care Sensitive Formula creates a non-acidic, pH-balanced environment in the mouth and works along with the patient’s saliva. This process helps defend against caries and helps protect teeth from acid erosion.

Fluoride works together with calcium and phosphate in saliva to prevent dental caries.
